§ 83-9. Secretary to Board of Review.

  • Pursuant to the provisions of the Real Property Tax Law and the Village Law, the Board of Review has the authority to appoint a Secretary who shall perform such confidential duties and such duties as are necessary to enable the Board of Review to properly and sufficiently carry out its responsibilities and the provisions of the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York. By this local law, the Board of Trustees hereby creates the position of Secretary to the Board of Review. Such Secretary shall have such duties as are specified by the Board of Review by resolution, shall be appointed by the Board of Review and shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Review. Such duties may include the following:
    A. 
    Assist(s) in confidential reports from the Assessor to the Board of Review and the Village Administrator in connection with grievances and tax certiorari cases;
    B. 
    Receive(s) and refer(s) telephone calls and fax transmissions and responds to them at the direction of the Assessor and the Board of Review;
    C. 
    Prepare(s) legal notices and notices to senior citizens, notices to new property owners and notices of special meetings. Under the direction of the Assessor and the Board of Review, prepares budget reports;
    D. 
    Assist (s) the Assessor and the Board of Review with grievance filings;
    E. 
    Maintain (s) records and reports generated by the Board of Review and the Assessor; and
    F. 
    Make(s) appointments for the members of the Board of Review and schedules inspections and appointments for the Assessor.
